[Around lunchtime on Tuesday Austria ushers Nanami into her bedroom. She has some left over desserts from Maya's picnic on the table in her sitting area along with some tea and coffee in case Nanami would like any.]
Danke for joining me, I hope this isn't too inconvenient. [Lunch is probably Nanami's breakfast with her sleeping habits... not that Austria's are any better by comparison.]

I got up early this morning anyway.

Date: 2014-07-08 08:35 pm (UTC)[She'd rather do this in the garden where it's prettier than this drab room, but there's just no privacy!]
I've gotten into the poor habit of sleeping as late as possible on Tuesday, unfortunately. [Easier to stay awake for when a murderer comes around at night, really.]
I'd wanted to speak with you privately you see, because I find you very trustworthy. [Austria spoons some sugar into her coffee, looking a little troubled.]
I know that you yourself are very open with everyone, but after that trivia question and the contents of the smoking room I'm more reluctant to do so.

Date: 2014-07-08 08:42 pm (UTC)Mm...I was trying to do the same, but I just ended up being unable to sleep. And I don't think...we're going to have a party tonight.
[ Because look how the last one went PHOENIX... ]
I'm glad you find me trustworthy, though. It's...the mastermind that makes you reluctant to be open with everyone, right? Because, someone... [ May be the mastermind...it's an understandable concern, even though Nanami doesn't want to distrust anyone there. ]

Date: 2014-07-08 08:50 pm (UTC)After that first trial though, when we were able to catch Marlowe... I thought it might be entirely possible that no one else would have to die. No one seemed like the malicious sort and the incentives seemed so outlandish...
2/3
Date: 2014-07-08 08:58 pm (UTC)But there were three others who were in the same situation so I used it as an excuse to get to know them-- particularly Frau Feferi.
People have spoken to me about how she must be lying and putting on an act. That she is a truly manipulative and evil person and they fear for their lives around her... but I haven't gotten that impression.
The way she reacted to the door of the smoking room being blown off, being so fearful of us... she's just as I thought she was. The youngest member of the household.
I lied 3/4
Date: 2014-07-08 09:11 pm (UTC)It's only more confusing now with her worst fear being that she might appear on the suspect list again. That doesn't sound like someone who plans on killing again. That doesn't sound like someone who is in it for prizes or the sake of murdering others...
...So why didn't she retire and how did she get access to that room?
Some of the murders... it was easy to see why they would kill. Frau Pekoyama thinking she would fulfill a duty to the man she thought was her master. Kougyokou to revive her brother who was taken from her because of this game. Herr Bakura and Frau Mei to revive their respective sisters.
But Herr Wright... his actions were deplorable but they almost seemed to be of a man backed into a corner trying to make the best of a terrible situation. Like he just wanted his death to mean something.

Date: 2014-07-08 09:19 pm (UTC)She's been ostracized by a lot of people in the house because of her crime and Herr Wright, even in his own trial, seemed adamant about not sympathizing with murderers.
I thought it was strange... and then there was that trivia question. A mastermind, someone who is orchestrating this entire game. The game wouldn't be able to function if no one killed anyone.
No matter how much we might not have wanted to kill, they did something to ensure that death would occur and I think Frau Feferi at least was a victim of this manipulation.

Date: 2014-07-08 09:27 pm (UTC)[ Nanami has been picking at her pastry since Austria began speaking, and now she sets it down, frowning. ]
...I agree that...Feferi-san, at least...was a victim to a stronger degree than the rest of us. Why, I couldn't say, but...she never wanted to kill anyone, really. I don't think she ever did. Pekoyama-san, Bakura-kun, Kougyoku-chan, Mei-san. All of them really did want to kill someone, no matter the cost.
[ Still hella side-eyeing Mei, apparently. ]
Even if afterwards they were apologetic.

Date: 2014-07-08 09:46 pm (UTC)Nein... I agree. We're all victims here. This house incites cruelty and distrust and plays with the darkness in everyone's heart.
[Austria adds another spoonful of sugar to her coffee and stirs it in.]
I just wonder if she will be forced to strike again if none of us do. Or if there are others who are in the same predicament as she is.
Frau Maribelle was very helpful in ensuring that we'll receive a clue next week, but someone will still kill and someone will still die in that time.
We need to try to figure this out as soon as we can if we're to spare lives.
I've attempted to rule out a few people who I think are least likely based on what we're aware of now.

Date: 2014-07-08 09:49 pm (UTC)[ Nanami will actually pour herself some tea, which she sips quietly as she considers.
She'd like to believe no one else will murder, but on week six, that's...a little too naive. The question isn't "will anyone strike next" but "who will strike next", at this point. ]

Date: 2014-07-08 09:59 pm (UTC)Shifting to the Mastermind topic entirely, though... ]
Who have you ruled out so far? ...That is, who do you suspect, and who do you not suspect?
[ Question number nine has been on Nanami's mind a lot, too, admittedly. How could it not be..."who is the mastermind"? The answer to that, are they all going to be able to give it properly the next time they're asked?
Because there's no way it's not going to be asked at some point, she doesn't think. It feels like something a game would do: Who is the mastermind? If you guess right, you all win. If you guess wrong... ]

Date: 2014-07-08 10:19 pm (UTC)Herr Justice for one. [For... so many reasons.] I think that's self explanatory. Herr Iceland for shifting gears about disposing of the explosives and going along with blowing up the inaccessible rooms.
Frau Maribelle for being willing to participate in the bombings and negotiating the clue. Also for being less than amicable with all the suspected murders from the second trial, particularly Frau Feferi.
Frau Feferi for also obvious reasons. Frau Misaki, for being driven to murder. Herr Gavin for trying to negotiate the hostage situation in a way that prompted the Host to add to the rules. Frau Fey for retiring.
Herr Spain for his treatment of Frau Feferi after the second trial. Herr Michalis and Herr Nagumo for their fear of Frau Feferi being a manipulative horrific murderer who would be thirsting for their blood if they came forward to help Herr Spain with me.
Frau Rin for being involved in the group that tried to piece together the true events of the second trial. [And also being deadweight.]
And yourself and Herr Kuzuryuu. [For failing trivia... but she's not going to say that out loud.]
And technically there is nothing that really absolves Wriggle of anything but... I feel she is an outlier that should not be counted.
[Wriggle the Mastermind...]

Date: 2014-07-08 10:28 pm (UTC)But given that list...who does that leave? Athena-san, Fujisaki-san, Yukimura-san, Glinda-san...
I don't really feel any of them are the mastermind, either. That is, I feel like...of those, I have spoken to Glinda-san and Yukimura-san the most, and I feel absolutely certain that neither of them is that person.
[ Glinda in...particular............ ]
About Sebastian-san and Nagumo-san - were they really afraid? [ This feels out of character for what her read of both of them is, and requires investigation. ]

Date: 2014-07-08 10:37 pm (UTC)Herr Nagumo and Herr Michalis' behavior was very... mhm. Well I have difficultly believing that the pair of them with their abilities would be afraid of a thirteen year old like her.
I think they're just spineless men. Herr Michalis seems to severely lack empathy for others at least so I would believe he wouldn't stick his neck out for anyone if it might cause him some strain. [And he's probably a little bitter that he was outwitted by a child and defended her in trial.]
Herr Nagumo I was able to convince to testify on Herr Spain's behalf because of his friendship with him at least.

Date: 2014-07-08 10:40 pm (UTC)Admittedly I think any sane person might. It's an explosive in Herr Justice's hands after all.
However, she is very close to Frau Feferi as well. I know that she's a very amicable person and quite pleasant so she's made friends very easily.
...although it does make me wonder.

Date: 2014-07-08 10:47 pm (UTC)[ Why is Nanami worrying about this...probably because she's fairly certain Kaoru has rarely said one honest thing to her, but she likes him despite that, so why... ]
I don't think Feferi-san would be on good terms with someone who made her do something like kill someone...do you? At least, not genuinely good terms like she is with Yukimura-san. I think they honestly enjoy spending time together. That is...I find the idea Yukimura-san is the mastermind unlikely at best, although I hadn't known she'd objected to Apollo-san blowing up the door. I would have objected as well, had I known - or at least I would have suggested everyone be there for it. I didn't even know he was attempting it until Kuzuryuu-kun and I heard the explosion up on the tower.
[ A LITTLE MORE WARNING THAN "FIRE IN THE HOLE" WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE and she can't blame anyone for going WAIT WHAT THE HELL after a shouted announcement of HEY I'M GONNA BLOW THIS UP, basically.
Because Apollo there is such a thing as giving fair warning and that was not it...! ]
However...what makes you wonder? Her making friends with people...?

Date: 2014-07-08 10:53 pm (UTC)I think if you know something that can help someone else you have an obligation to come forward with that information. Neither of them had that as their first reaction, which probably just colors my impression of them poorly.
People have accused me of only caring about Herr Spain and while it's true we get along... I would have come forward for any one of you if I'd thought it would help you prove your innocence.
[Glinda's accusation really stung...] It just seemed right... even if my method wasn't very refined.

Date: 2014-07-08 11:01 pm (UTC)I think at the most she might be someone like Frau Feferi though, which would be... very unfortunate. It'd give her reason to be friendly with Frau Feferi and to not want the door opened.
It has more credence if you think Herr Wright was also one of those individuals... although that's difficult to prove with him dead.
It's very shaky and easy to poke holes in, but I thought it was something to keep in mind at least.

Date: 2014-07-08 11:24 pm (UTC)[ They are almost worryingly attached at this stage.
Though Nanami can't really articulate why it worries her... ]
And I wouldn't say "selfish" is incorrect entirely...but, it's hard to get a good read from anyone who isn't honest about their opinions, so I can't say for sure.

Date: 2014-07-08 11:29 pm (UTC)They have an identical face.
I put Herr Iceland und Herr Norway down for the same reason. He looks just like him when he has that clip in his hair.
Do you think Herr Nagumo is someone to worry about? [Because she may have had some vague concerns in the past... which is why she put him down as the Mastermind for trivia.]

Date: 2014-07-08 11:32 pm (UTC)[ A neutral answer, but how can she put it into words...at least half her worries are just genre savvy, and the others are a tendency to pay attention and notice things. Which had been why Marlowe stopped talking to her in that first trial, according to the mods.
She was a little too right. ]
...But his card says he's a skilled swordsman, and I don't think anyone who is that careful to never truly offend anyone is someone to be written off as trustworthy. Mm, I'm not saying he isn't - but I wonder what his actual opinions are? He's so careful about what he says, it seems to me.

Date: 2014-07-08 11:56 pm (UTC)That's true. I suppose I'm just used to that sort of temperament in people. [Mostly because she is so easily offended and has such a terrible temper.]
